The only time that you can safely say that your computer is safe from attacks, malware, and viruses is when your computer is either off or disconnected from the network. But, since such a computer is practically useless for the tasks of the modern-day workplace, connecting to a local network or to the Internet has become a necessity. Is there a way for your online life to remain safe and healthy? One important way is to use antivirus firewall software.
Antivirus firewall software often comes as a bundle of separate programs packaged into one security suite. Though, there are antivirus programs that can be installed as stand-alone applications. There are also stand-alone firewall programs that can replace the bundled basic Windows Firewall that gets installed with recent or updated versions of the Microsoft Windows operating system.
Antivirus software and firewall software are both protective measures for your computer. They have different ways of protecting your computer. For this reason, it is important that you install both (if buying separate programs for each), or make the job easier by choosing an antivirus firewall software suite.

Firewalls play an important role in the security of your computer network and are designed to protect your computer, all of your applications and files from the threat of external attacks. Many people overlook the importance of a good firewall and they should definitely consider this type of protection before being exposed to the internet.
One handy tool is an antivirus firewall comparison which describes what type of protection each firewall can provide. There are several different types of firewalls and having the one that suits your needs the best is important.
1. Packet-filtering: this type of firewall filters “packets” by examining the protocol and address information only. This variety of firewall is simple, fairly low cost and easy to use. Most often these types of firewalls are “built in” to operating systems, such as Windows.
2. Application level: the firewall is an application proxy overseeing each data exchange remotely. The firewall is “invisible” and monitors all traffic according to specific rules.
3. Circuit level: the rules are fully configurable, so that traffic is only accepted from an authenticated source, and during a specified time period.

Most of us have heard of just how powerful computer firewall protection programs are against spyware. But those who do not have enough information wonder just how effective this firewall protection is.
There is no denying the fact that one of the most effective ways to stop spyware and adware is with the use of computer firewall protection. One of the things this kind of software protection does is eliminate or destroy incoming spyware and adware that is quite often attached to data that you are downloading when surfing the World Wide Web.
This is one of the most common ways that most people get into serious trouble with spyware. And you do not have to download data only from suspect sites to be at risk. The truth is that you are at great risk, no matter what site you are downloading information from.
For doubting Thomases who may still think that spyware is some non-existent scum being promoted online, there is another huge advantage that firewall spyware protection has. Some firewall programs have a facility that displays the number of attempted “hacks”. That is all the attempts to illegally install spyware pests in your PC as well as other potentially harmful files and viruses.

Often, the computer that runs in a corporate setting or university will have limited access to the Internet, thanks to the blocking software installed. However, with a proxy server, you can navigate around this difficulty.
Quite often, the blocking or filtering software that will be used by the company will be the firewall. This usually consists of software (and sometimes hardware too), whose purpose is to detect the sites that the computer accesses on the Net. This is done through tracing of the IP address of the user’s PC. Aside from tracking though, others will have blocking capabilities built in.
This can make it very, very difficult if not impossible to go to these banned sites without getting caught or causing the system to crash altogether. A proxy server, however, can go around this easily.
There are a lot of these available on the Internet, but the real key to using them is an understanding of just what is going on. In simple terms, the server will cloak the user’s computer so that every time a blocked or banned site is accessed, the IP address, which is always requested by the host site and is detected by the firewall, is not shown and instead, the IP address of the server is used.

It seems nowadays if you are not online, you don’t exist. When you decide to take the leap onto the Internet there are some precautions you should take. I have friends who say all the time, I really have nothing to hide or worry about. This may be true, but malicious users like to deface websites.Which
can ruin you and your businesses reputation.
This is a paper about firewalls protecting your company from outside threats and unauthorized access.
A firewall is a great start. Firewalls can be both hardware and software based. There are many different firewall vendors some of the bigger names are Cisco, Symantec, and Checkpoint. The difficult part is configuring the firewall. This is where many intruders bypass security, because the firewall is poorly configured.
